Overnight, Team Australia landed in Brisbane after a hugely successful campaign at the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.

Athletes were greeted by friends, family, and supporters as they arrived at the Brisbane International Terminal after flying from Germany, via Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR898.

64 Australians competed in 9 of the 26 sports on offer, including athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, equestrian, golf, gymnastics, swimming, and tennis.

Team Australia finished with 59 medals: 15 gold, 21 silver and 23 bronze.

The Special Olympics World Games is the planet's largest inclusive sporting event and will next occur in 2027.

The Aussies competed against 7,000 inspiring athletes with intellectual disability or autism from over 190 nations.
