Brisbane Airport has welcomed ‘Local’ to the Domestic Terminal, a brand-new 360-degree restaurant and bar, the largest to open in the Domestic Terminal at 425m2.

Drawing inspiration from the warm hospitality of a Queensland beer garden, ‘Local’ is a celebration of the state’s world-class local producers, distillers, and brewers, set amongst the timeless characteristics of a traditional Queensland home, with a majestic native fig tree as the centerpiece.

The menu will feature a delectable array of classic comfort eats, fresh seafood & salads, with all produce sourced from sustainable and ethically-minded suppliers. In addition, travellers will also have a selection of freshly made sandwiches & sweets to take on board.

BAC_LOCAL-27-300ppiBehind the bar, offerings include wine, craft beer and regional spirits with products from local heroes such as Green Beacon Brewing and Balter  

Martin Ryan, Executive General Manager of Commercial at Brisbane Airport said he was excited to be bringing travellers a fresh taste of Queensland before they depart on their journeys.

"We are dedicated to introducing quintessentially Queensland dining concepts to Brisbane Airport and are thrilled about the culinary offerings SSP is providing passengers at ‘Local’.

‘Local’, brings travellers the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful meal and refresh with a local beverage in a relaxed environment, whilst experiencing the warmth of Queensland hospitality right up until they board their plane.” Mr Ryan said.

BAC_LOCAL-24-300ppiOperated by SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations, ‘Local’ is the latest culinary experience to open in the Domestic Terminal as part of Brisbane Airport’s Southern Retail Upgrade project, which is delivering 10 new and refurbished food and beverage outlets as well as new amenities and gate lounge seating. Local can be found on the satellite at the Virgin Australia end of the terminal.

‘Local’ joins newly opened MICA, McDonald’s, Soul Origin and Red Rooster at Brisbane Airport’s Domestic Terminal, with more new and exciting retail brands set to open in early 2024.
