Jetstar to launch Brisbane to Melbourne (Avalon) services

• Return flights will operate daily between Brisbane and Avalon beginning in June
• Sale fares start at $49 at jetstar.com

As Jetstar celebrates 20 years since first taking to the skies, the low-fares airline is announcing its 100th domestic route – operating daily between Brisbane and Melbourne Avalon from 28 June.

The service will provide access from Brisbane to Victoria’s famous Surf Coast region and Great Ocean Road

Brisbane to Avalon will be Jetstar’s 100th domestic route as the airline continues its 20-year commitment to bringing everyday low fares to Australians, enabling even more people to take off more often.

Today’s route launch follows a partnership with Brisbane Airport announced last year which unlocked about half a million new seats between Brisbane and some of the most popular international destinations on the Jetstar network.

To celebrate the new service, Jetstar will launch a 12-hour sale from 11am AEST (12pm AEDT) Wednesday 27 March 2024, offering one-way fares between Melbourne (Avalon) and Brisbane from just $49^.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said “The new Brisbane to Avalon service will provide another option for South East Queensland residents to explore The Great Ocean Road and Surf Coast region, as well as accessing Geelong and many regional Victorian destinations.

“We look forward to welcoming Victorians via this new route with Brisbane surging in popularity as a destination.

“BNE is proud to be the departure point for Jetstar’s 100th domestic route. We’re excited that Jetstar is now Brisbane Airport's second biggest international airline because we know a valuable holiday experience begins with a good value flight.”

Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully said the new route marks an exciting milestone for the airline.

“The launch of flights between Brisbane and Avalon marks the first time in our history we’ve operated 100 domestic routes, which has been made possible by the introduction of our new state-of-the-art NEO aircraft into our fleet.

“Creating a link between Brisbane and Avalon will give customers from Brisbane direct access to Victoria’s beautiful Surf Coast region and surrounds at an affordable price.

“It’s been 20 years since we first took to the skies, allowing more Australians to travel for less and with every opportunity we’re excited to be expanding our network further.

“Demand for our everyday low fares is stronger than ever, as we continue to invest in new aircraft, new uniforms and new routes like this one.”
