Major car park changes at the Brisbane Domestic Terminal

The Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal open-air car park will close from Thursday 15 April at 1am, to make way for construction of a new multi-level car park.

Drivers wanting to park for up to four hours, will now be directed to park in one of two new temporary car parks at the Domestic Terminal.

One car park is designed for Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Tiger Airways guests, while the second car park is ideal for Qantas and QantasLink guests.

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) spokesperson Rebecca McConochie said the best thing for people to do is to follow the signs.

“The easiest way to get to both car parks when coming from Moreton Drive, will be to take the Nancy-Bird Way turn-off, then turn left onto Airport Drive, and follow the signs into the car parks,” Ms McConochie said.

“Or simply visit our website www.brisbaneairport.com.au before taking your trip to the airport, because it has all the information you need to plan your trip and parking options.”

This arrangement will be in place while BAC is constructing a new multi-level car park at the Domestic Terminal, which will be finished in late 2011, providing an additional 4,500 car spaces in the precinct.

Ms McConochie said a new convenience product will also be introduced with these temporary car parks called ParkQuick, allowing people to park for 15 minutes for $2.

“Instead of driving round doing the loop as you attempt to pick up your passenger, people can just drive into the car park and wait for 15 minutes at the cost of a gold coin. It will save drivers a lot of hassle and stress,” she said.
