Executive appointment at Brisbane Airport
Brisbane Airport has appointed Scott Norris as its new Executive General Manager Commercial overseeing retail, commercial, parking and industrial development at Queensland’s most important gateway.
Mr Norris is currently the General Manager of Aviation and Commercial at Sunshine Coast Airport and has previously held leadership positions at Vancouver, Auckland and Perth airports.
"Scott will lead Brisbane Airport through a dynamic phase of retail, commercial and industrial transformation,” Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said.
Brisbane Airport is one of the country's largest by land size, covering 2,700 hectares, with 450 hectares available for development, and is one of the city’s largest employment hubs.
More than 20,000 people work at the airport across more than 600 businesses, with another 10,000 workers forecast for the precinct in the coming decade. Construction is currently underway on its largest industrial project, a state-of-the-art $50 million parcel facility for Australia Post.
“As Brisbane experiences rapid growth, the airport holds the city's last prime large-scale land available for development. The future of the Airport Central and Airport Industrial Park precincts will significantly shape Brisbane's future. 
"Scott will also oversee the expansion of retail within our International Terminal ensuring we offer our passengers the very best in shopping and food and beverage options. With around 25 million travellers per year at BNE, we provide retailers with a high-value opportunity to connect with customers.
“Ensuring our ground transport options and parking options meets the demands of a rapidly growing precinct will also be a key priority, with a focus on choice and access.”
Mr Norris’s career in airports began at Heathrow while he completed his MBA at Bath University. He spent four years at Auckland Airport before moving to Perth Airport, where he worked from 2007 to 2016. Subsequently, he joined the Vancouver Airport Authority as Vice-President of Commercial Development, before joining the Sunshine Coast Airport team in 2022.

“With an expansion of terminal capacity on the drawing board to meet a rapidly growing population, this is really a great time to be joining the Brisbane Airport team.
"I'm a Kiwi with Canadian citizenship, Australian residency, and a British wife.
“I'm looking forward to making Brisbane my home as the city is transformed ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and can’t wait to join the BNE team.”
Mr Norris will take up his role at Brisbane Airport from June 30.
