Brisbane Airport wins Qld development of the year

Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) iseek Communications Data Centre development has been named ‘Queensland Development of the Year’ in the 2012 Property Council of Australia Innovation and Excellence Awards.

“We are very excited to receive this prestigious award, which demonstrates our commitment to sustainable and innovative development at the airport,” BAC Acting CEO Tim Rothwell said.

“It is a wonderful achievement for our team and highlights Brisbane Airport’s ability to deliver unique, high-quality developments,” he said.

Mr Rothwell said the Data Centre, developed by BAC’s Property Division BNE Property, achieved excellence through a strong partnership with the tenant iseek Communications.

“Drawing on iseek Communications’ industry expertise enabled us to make the development the most architecturally significant and energy efficient data centre in Australia,” Mr Rothwell said.

BNE Property General Manager Renaye Peters said the win is particularly significant given the nature of the development.

“It demonstrates how good design can transform even the most technically and environmentally challenging project into an industry best.

“The Data Centre has set a new industry standard by reducing its carbon footprint, power consumption and energy through design and technology innovations.

“Our recently released 2012 Property Development Master Plan aims to provide infrastructure to facilitate sustainable development at building, precinct and community levels,” Ms Peters said.

The development team included BNE Property’s partner and tenant, iseek Communications, KP Architects and Multi Span Australia.
