Brisbane Airport (BNE) has shared the stage with some of the world’s top airports, bagging multiple awards at the prestigious Airport Food and Beverage (FAB) Awards held in Geneva overnight.

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) won best in class for its International Terminal redevelopment in ‘The Great Transformation in Airport Food and Beverage Award’ category, with Helsinki Airport receiving a Highly Commended.

BAC’s International Terminal offering was also Highly Commended for the ‘Airport Food and Beverage Offer of the Year Award’, sharing the commendation with Heathrow Airport, while Copenhagen Airport took home the win.

Other prizes on the night included Emirates Leisure Retail winning ‘Airport Coffee Shop of the Year’ for Hudsons Coffee at the Brisbane International Terminal, with Caffe Nero - London Heathrow and Red Rock Leisure – Melbourne Airport Highly Commended.

Airport Retail Group also won ‘Outstanding originality in Airport Food and Beverage’ for The Coffee Club shipping container restaurants located on Brisbane Airport’s Domestic Terminal forecourt, sharing first place with TRG Concessions from London Gatwick Airport.

Andrew Brodie, General Manager Airline and Retail Management, said, “Gaining the highest accolades at the internationally renowned FAB awards in so many categories is an outstanding success for Brisbane Airport (BNE) and our retail partners.

“At BNE it’s not just about the quality, variety and choice of F&B on offer, it’s about being a destination in itself offering imaginatively prepared, locally sourced produce, and a memorable ‘taste’ of our remarkable location.

“The ambience of the terminal adds to the experience, capturing a sense of Brisbane’s personality and progressive thinking that drives BAC and the retailers to continually evolve,” Mr Brodie said.

These awards come after a $45 million redevelopment of Brisbane’s International Terminal. Elements of the redevelopment included a new themed Departures lounge, incorporating a sense of place that is uniquely Brisbane; new walk through Duty Free stores for both Departures and Arrivals; new specialty retail and food and beverage outlets offering the best of local produce and products; improved way finding for passengers and unrivalled views of aviation activity on the tarmac.

“We’re all about anticipating traveller’s needs, being flexibly accommodating and making people feel at home. These are qualities that define great service, help us be a great host and is why we are so proud to receive recognition of our efforts with these awards.

The 2016 FAB awards are a celebration of the best and most innovative projects in travel related food and beverage.
