Brisbane Airport named Australasia’s Leading Airport

Brisbane Airport (BNE) is honoured to have been named ‘Australasia’s Leading Airport’ in the 23rd World Travel Awards™ 2016, which was announced at a gala event in Vietnam over the weekend.

The World Travel Awards™, established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel tourism and hospitality industry, are recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

It is the most prestigious, comprehensive and sought after awards programme in the global travel and tourism industry. To be voted a World Travel Award™ winner is an accolade which many strive for but few achieve.

The 23rd World Travel Awards™ year-long online voting process encourages global participation, with votes coming from qualified executives working within travel and tourism and the consumer travel buyer.

Julieanne Alroe, Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and Managing Director, said, “Australasia has many outstanding airports within the region, so we are humbled to again be recognised as one of the best in a very competitive field.

“The honour is even sweeter in that it’s an award that has been bestowed on us through votes from global travellers.

“To know that travellers enjoy the facilities and services provided at Brisbane Airport is a credit to the front line staff at our terminals and to every person working on site, be they employed by airlines, contracted, government agencies or volunteers,” Ms Alroe said.

It’s been a big year for awards for BNE with the airport also being named Best Airport (Australia/Pacific) in the 2016 Skytrax World Airport Awards, while being the top rated Australian airport for quality of service for the 12th year in a row by the Australian Competition and Consumer Association (ACCC).
