Brisbane Airport Corporation Judged Best Corporate Citizen

Brisbane Airport Corporation has taken out the Corporate Citizenship category in the 2014 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards at City Hall tonight while its CEO Julieanne Alroe was named Business Person of the Year.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the ninth annual Lord Mayor’s Business Awards recognised the local business community and its contribution to Brisbane’s $135 billion economy.

“Brisbane Airport Corporation was recognised for a number of reasons and particularly as the first touch point to Brisbane for many visitors,” Cr Quirk said.

“The judges were particularly impressed with its disability initiatives, including the opening of Australia’s first bathroom for assistance animals.

”Julieanne Alroe, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) CEO and Managing Director, said, “Everyone at Brisbane Airport is deeply committed to the responsible management and development of the airport in a way that meets the needs of present generations and will be viewed with pride by future generations.

“Only through close partnership with the community via our dedicated Community Engagement Program can we achieve this. We are very proud of what Brisbane Airport has accomplished to date and we will continue to strive to be an excellent corporate citizen of Brisbane,” Ms Alroe said.

Cr Quirk said the 2014 awards highlighted the depth and breadth of Brisbane’s business community.“These businesses and individuals play a critical role in establishing Brisbane as Australia’s new world city and a hub for innovation, investment, education, conventions and tourism in the Asia Pacific region,” Cr Quirk said.

“A big thank you to our award sponsors: ANZ, Australia TradeCoast, Brisbane City Council, Brisbane Times, Chandler Macleod, Clayton Utz, Channel Seven, Energex, 4BC, HSBC, BDO, Sirromet Wines and Optus for their support
