BNE's Revamped APP Keeps Travellers Updated

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has today launched its completely revamped App featuring up-to-the minute flight status notification technology that can be automatically shared with friends and family members.

Compatible on iOS and Android devices, the App features a ‘My Trip’ functionality allowing passengers to receive instant push-notifications on flight status changes along with gate and baggage carousel information.

Travellers also have the option of immediately distributing these updates to nominated friends and family who may be awaiting their arrival.

BAC’s Strategic Planning and Development Manager, Roel Hellemons, said the new App is a big leap forward in the way the airport communicates with passengers. “The information on the App mirrors exactly what is displayed on the Flight Information Display Screens inside the terminals, which is easier said than done, and this highlights the design-led approach that was taken when developing the App.

“We focused on how we could assist travellers by providing constant communication throughout their journey to help minimise stress that sometimes occurs during the travel cycle. This approach drove our ‘information first’ design, resulting in the ‘My Trip’ feature for travellers,” Mr Hellemons said.

The App also features a live feed with the most up to date information available about events, arts and culture, attractions, restaurants, bars and shopping in Brisbane, as well as Queensland regional destination information in a unique airport/industry partnership with the

Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW). Fed from the ATDW data feed, travellers to Queensland now have an insider’s scoop on Brisbane’s best bars and restaurants, shopping and events, arts and culture venues, and accommodation.

The App can be downloaded for free from the iTunes store for iOS devices and the Google Play store for Android devices.
