BNE welcomes Virgin Australia's daily dash to LA

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has welcomed Virgin Australia’s announcement of new daily services between Brisbane Airport (BNE) and Los Angeles (LA), from 26 October 2014.

Operated on a flagship Boeing 777-300ER, the new daily return service is an increase on Virgin Australia’s current four times weekly service, boosting capacity by 2,166 seats a week between the two ports.

Julieanne Alroe, BAC CEO and Managing Director said, “We are delighted Virgin Australia has made a clear commitment to Queensland announcing these new daily return services to LA, a move which will provide even more choice and an exciting premium product for travellers to/from Brisbane, Queensland and beyond.

“It is testament to the growth of the Queensland market and the strength of BNE as an international gateway for Australia, as well as a shared commitment by Virgin Australia and BAC to offer the very best in product and network to travellers,” Ms Alroe said.

Virgin Australia first launched services between BNE-LA in April 2009 and is the airport’s largest airline partner, contributing over 1 million international passengers annually to Brisbane Airport.

With direct services between Brisbane and 12 global destinations Virgin Australia currently operates over 140 international flights per week to/from BNE.

North America is Queensland’s third largest tourism market and the increase in services support the 4.2 per cent increase in passenger numbers experienced over the last 12 months (year ending December 2013).
