BNE named ‘Best Regional Airport’ in global awards

Brisbane Airport has been named Best Regional Airport (Australia/Pacific), in the prestigious 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Announced overnight in Vienna, the awards honour airports that gained the highest passenger satisfaction ratings in the annual World Airport Survey - the largest and most respected independent Customer Survey of Airport product and service quality.

This most recent accolade follows Brisbane Airport being ranked as Australia's Best Airport for Quality of Service by the ACCC for the eighth consecutive year.Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) CEO and Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, said it was an honour for Brisbane Airport to be recognised in the global arena.

“There is no higher praise than that received from the travelling public and this award is a tribute to every one of the nearly 20,000 airport workers at Brisbane Airport who ensure we are operating at a world class standard.

"We are especially pleased with the result considering the survey was conducted while Brisbane Airport was in the midst of a major infrastructure program, including the expansion of the Common User Satellite and the construction of our new multi-level car park and Skywalk at the Domestic Terminal.

“While this award is wonderful recognition for what we’ve achieved to date, it’s additional encouragement for us to continue to provide world-class services and facilities to travellers from across the nation and the world,” said Ms Alroe.

Over 500 airports were reviewed in this year’s survey, which provides the most accurate and credible global Benchmark of Airport Service standards worldwide.

Approximately 12.08 million real travellers from over 108 nationalities participated in the review making it the world’s largest, annual airport passenger satisfaction survey, evaluating traveller experiences across 39 different airport service and product factors.

The survey analysed the airport experience for departure, arrival and transit, including terminal facilities, comfort and cleanliness, security and immigration services, signage and directions, shopping and dining standards, staff service quality and more.
