American Airlines debuts new flagship Dreamliner
For the first time in Australia, American Airlines has unveiled its new premium Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, marking the start of a record season of flights connecting Brisbane with North America, including services to Dallas Fort Worth and soon Los Angeles.
The first BNE-DFW service of the season departed Brisbane today (October 28) with the new Boeing 787-9 which provides more opportunities for customers to travel in premium classes than ever before, offering 51 Flagship Suite® seats and redesigned Premium Economy and Main cabins.
From reconfigured seats to Bluetooth connectivity and a fresh new look, the new aircraft is steeped in comfort and functionality.
The Brisbane to DFW service will operate six times per week and then daily in December until end of March 2026.
The season will provide capacity of 69,296 seats across 284 flights and is the longest route in Brisbane Airport’s network, and the AA network by distance.
American Airlines, in conjunction with partners Qantas, will also operate three weekly flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles from December to January.
Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said the new Dreamliner had plenty to offer passengers travelling to the U.S. and beyond.

American Airlines Vice President International and Inflight Dining Operations José A. Freig said services between the two continents would strengthen American's Asia-Pacific footprint. “When we launched our Brisbane flight last year, our customers were thrilled to be able to fly now on American from two Australian destinations to the U.S.
“This coming December we’re excited to offer even more nonstop flying in Australia with our seasonal Brisbane-Los Angeles route, further strengthening our commitment to this beautiful country and our partnership with Qantas.”

It’s shaping up as a busy period at Brisbane Airport with the following launches:
- Malaysian Airlines will begin flying from Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur from November 30, significantly boosting connectivity across India.
- Delta Air Lines will also resume their seasonal flights to Brisbane from Los Angeles later this week, flying 3 times per week on its Airbus A350-900 from 2 November 2025 until the end of March 2026.
- Jetstar’s inaugural Brisbane to Cebu route takes flight on December 3 for a triweekly service until May next year.
Brisbane Airport is now connected to 35 international destinations with international travel these summer holidays expected to rise 9% on last year.
A total of 25 million passengers are expected through Brisbane Airport this year.
The airport is currently investing $5 billion across the precinct over the next five years as part of the Future BNE transformation.
