Airside development a prime site for freight and logistics

John Tormey at AFC4 Brisbane Airport

Friday 16 June 2017: Construction is now complete on stage one of Brisbane Airport’s 8,887m² industrial development Airport Freight Centre 4 (AFC4) at Export Park.

Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) property division BNE Property delivered the first 5,000m² of the AFC4 development which takes full advantage of the site’s unique airside location.

BAC General Manager Commercial Businesses John Tormey said the development was created with freight and logistics companies in mind.

“AFC4’s direct airside access presents a prime opportunity for logistics and distribution businesses looking to boost their efficiency and market competiveness,” Mr Tormey said.

“It offers an incomparable location for businesses relying on efficient multimodal transport to connect with local, national and international customers.”

The site’s unique airside position is further enhanced by seamless connections to Brisbane’s major road network including the Gateway Motorway, East-West Arterial, Inner City Bypass and the Airportlink, Clem7 and Legacy Way tunnels.

Leading airline caterer Gate Gourmet has commenced fitout at one of the five warehouses, upgrading to the larger premise following continued growth at a neighbouring airport facility.

“We are very pleased to be working with Gate Gourmet, a long term airport tenant, to accommodate their growing business in this outstanding warehouse and office facility.”

Gate Gourmet General Manager Fidel Fernandez said the location is ideal for their business.

“As a gourmet caterer to major domestic and international airlines, Gate Gourmet relies on the ability to efficiently deliver fresh meals directly from our warehouse to aircraft,” Mr Fernandez said.

“Our brand new tenancy at AFC4 allows us to further improve this service in a modern environment that reflects our reputation for quality and service.”

Gate Gourmet is joined by Aircraft Loaders and Packers and JR Duty Free at AFC4.

BNE Property is seeking expressions of interest for the remaining two units at AFC4 including a 1,165m² facility in stage one available now and a 1,720m² facility in stage two available in September.
