12pm Thursday - Options for Access to Brisbane Airport

Brisbane Airport is open however access to the airport is restricted due to flooding around South East Queensland.

The Brisbane Airport International and Domestic Terminals, runways, taxiways, car parks and roads are all clear of water and operating.

Roads on the Brisbane Airport precinct are currently open and are expected to remain open from now on. Please note the following road closures throughout South East Queensland, which may delay travel to and from Brisbane Airport:

Road closures:

Brisbane City – Hale Street inbound towards Coronation Drive, Milton Road and Caxton Street.

Brisbane City - Queens Wharf Road

Brisbane City - Margaret Street and the Margaret Street on ramp from the Riverside Expressway

Brisbane City - Albert Street

Brisbane City - Alice Street and Albert Street

Brisbane City - Edward Street

Brisbane City – Riverside Expressway Westbound reduced to one lane all traffic being diverted at the Elizabeth Street exit.

Brisbane City – Go Between Bridge, Brisbane City -Victoria Bridge Brisbane City -William Jolly Bridge.

Public transport to and from Brisbane Airport is available but extremely limited.

Airtrain services will start at Brisbane Airport from 11.30am today. Half hourly services will continue until 8.00pm tonight. Airtrain services will only run between Roma Street Station and Brisbane Airport. No Gold Coast service will be available today. All Translink/Airtrain services are free until further notice. Coachtrans will be operating services on demand between Brisbane Airport and the city until 7pm provided the high tide does not affect any additional roads this afternoon. Coachtrans are operating services to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast as per their normal schedule. Visit www.coachtrans.com.au for further details.

Taxis are still servicing both the Domestic and International Terminals.

BAC would like to notify Brisbane residents that the airport is not a designated evacuation centre.

Designated evacuation centres are located at ANZ QEII Stadium on Kessells Road, Nathan and RNA Showgrounds at Bowen Hills. For more information, phone Brisbane City Council on 3403 8888.
