Construction of Brisbane Airport’s Aeromedical Precinct has reached the halfway mark, bringing regional, remote and rural Queensland communities closer to critical medical and emergency services.

Brisbane Airport is delivering the $217 million construction project, with the Queensland Government investing $430 million into the precinct in operational costs over the next two decades as part of an ongoing partnership.

The mammoth precinct spans 700 metres, equivalent to the length of the Domestic Terminal, and will be Australia’s largest dedicated aeromedical facility.

More than 700 tonnes of steel, 2,500 piles and 300 tilt panels have been used across an 18,700m² footprint since construction began in 2025.

Located between Brisbane Airport’s parallel runways for quick access, the Aeromedical Precinct will be home to aircraft and resources for critical services by Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), LifeFlight, Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) and Queensland Police Service Aviation Capability Group.

Brisbane Airport’s 24/7 operations are vital to Queensland’s aeromedical network, providing unrestricted access for emergency medical flights day and night.

In the past year to June, a total of 7,207 patients from 60 regional, rural and remote Queensland communities were flown in and out of Brisbane Airport for care by the Royal Flying Doctor.

The Brisbane-based LifeFlight helicopter crew helped 603 people while the jets aided 405 people.

This once-in-a-generation aeromedical development will serve as a vital hub to connect the community with enhanced door-to-door medical evacuation services.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said the Aeromedical Precinct reinforced Brisbane Airport’s role as a critical gateway for emergency medical services.

“In a state as vast as Queensland, aeromedical services play a vital role in keeping communities connected to healthcare, regardless of where they live,” he said.

“Behind every aeromedical flight is a patient, a family and a highly skilled team working against the clock. We’re proud to support these vital operations that save lives every day.

“This precinct located strategically between our runways is all about the people of Queensland and ensuring they have the connectivity to access vital healthcare and emergency services.”

Queensland Health Minister Tim Nicholls said the hub would serve the people of Queensland, in every corner of the state.

"The Crisafulli Government is committed to providing easier access to health care for all Queenslanders no matter where they live, and the new Aeromedical Precinct is a vital part of delivering that,” Minister Nicholls said.

The Aeromedical Precinct is due to be completed and operational next year.

Aeromedical Precinct features:

· Capacity for 26 aircraft and 17,800m² of tarmac parking.

· Patient transfer facilities to move patients between aircraft and ambulances.

· 18,700m² of hangar and administration space, equivalent to the size of King George Square.

· Medical base for regional patient and donor transfers.

· Parking for 450 staff and an onsite cafe.

· Targeting 5 Star Green Star accreditation and includes a 400kW solar system.

· Access to 24/7 operations at Brisbane Airport

With construction on its new Queensland headquarters about to commence, SCEE Group is getting ready to call Brisbane Airport’s Da Vinci Business Park home.

Interest in this particular development from prospective tenants was incredibly high, with SCEE Group emerging successfully from a strong field, Mr. Perry added.

“We’re charging ahead with a lot of proactive development here, building spaces without a lease commitment because we are so confident. The demand is that significant. We’re really busy, to say the least.”

Graeme Dunn, SCEE Group’s Chief Executive Officer, shared his excitement about bringing a number of the group’s subsidiaries, including Trivantage Manufacturing, SJ Electric, SEME Solution and SCEE Electrical, together under one roof .

“We have a strong track record of utilising the service offerings across the SCEE Group to deliver solutions for our clients. The co-location of our Brisbane based operations will further enhance this by encouraging increased integration and collaboration between the businesses,” said Mr Dunn.

Brisbane Airport Corporation is set to deliver an 8,000 sqm temperature-controlled distribution centre within the rapidly expanding Airport Industrial Park for Martin Brower, a leading global supply chain solutions provider for some of the world's leading brands. 

Brisbane Airport Corporation Executive General Manager of Commercial, Martin Ryan, welcomed the new partnership, noting how both organisations are committed to embedding sustainability into the project.

A sod turning ceremony with representatives from Brisbane Airport, Martin Brower, and builder, Tomkins Commercial, signaled the commencement of construction on the site.

Development of the 23,702 sqm site is expected to be completed in early 2025. Once operational, the facility will provide jobs for approximately 100 people.

The purpose-built distribution centre will deliver chilled, frozen, and ambient storage capability. The site will also provide refuelling, truck wash, and weighbridge facilities, and parking for 60 cars and 13 heavy vehicles.

Brisbane Airport is beginning construction of its largest industrial project, a state-of-the-art $50million parcel facility for Australia Post.

BAC is managing the design and delivery of Australia Post’s StarTrack Premium site, making it the postal service’s second largest in Queensland.

The Brisbane North Parcel Facility will span 31,800sqm of internal area. It will be equivalent to more than three rugby league fields with direct airside access from the 100-hectare Airport Industrial Park.

Brisbane Airport Chief Executive Officer Gert-Jan de Graaff welcomed the expanded partnership with Australia Post, which will consolidate its two Brisbane sites within Brisbane Airport’s industrial zone.

“This will be the largest industrial project ever constructed at Brisbane Airport,” he said.

“By providing Australia Post with direct airside access, we’re streamlining the delivery of time-sensitive parcels, benefitting millions of Queenslanders in the South East and regional areas of the state.

“Not only do we offer direct tarmac access, but Brisbane’s arterial road network is right on our doorstep.

“We are proud to develop projects that enable Queensland to grow and connect to the world.”

The 33,800sqm facility will include a custom-built 31,800sqm warehouse, as well as a two-level 2000 sqm commercial office space. There will be parking for 350 cars.

Sustainability features will be prioritised in the development, which is targeting a 5-Star Green Star certification for energy and water efficiency, climate change resilience and reduced environmental impacts during construction.

The building will include more than 1000 solar panels for renewable energy generation. This will complement BAC’s goal of net zero emissions in 2025.

Earth works have just commenced with construction generating around 1,500 jobs with the facility due to be operational in mid-2025.

The new centre will be able to process up to 176,000 parcels each day and scale up in peak periods.

Leading automation and security features will be in place to boost safety and efficiency for the 200 workers on shift at any time.

Airport Industrial Park is strategically located with transport access to air, road and sea through the Port of Brisbane and adjacent industrial suburbs.

Construction will begin shortly on Brisbane Airport’s next proactive development to meet surging demand for its industrial warehousing space. 

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is delivering a rolling inventory of developments to create new opportunities for tenants to make the move to the airport. 

BAC Executive General Manager of Commercial, Martin Ryan, said the proactive development demonstrated Brisbane Airport’s desirability as the region’s premier industrial offering.

In great news for Queenslanders, Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King has granted approval for the construction of the Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base at Brisbane Airport. 

The hub will connect Queenslanders to major hospitals and life-saving medical treatment, with new patient transfer facilities to care for people as they transition between aircraft and ambulance transfers. It will also feature state-of-the-art hangers for aeroplanes, helicopters, administration and a medical base for regional patients and donor transfers. 

“Brisbane Airport plays an essential role in the 24/7 connection of Queensland to urgent medical care. The Aeromedical Base will bring all providers together into one innovative world-class hub, with a transfer facility providing patients on the move with the very best clinical care possible, "according to Martin Ryan, Executive General Manager of Commercial at Brisbane Airport Corporation. 

The 14,470m² multi-tenanted facility will be located between Brisbane Airport’s two runways to accommodate speedy access for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), LifeFlight and Queensland Health.  

The Queensland Government continues to provide major support for the RFDS and LifeFlight to assist with their contributions to the new Aeromedical Base, as well as a $334 million 10-year commitment to the Royal Flying Doctor Service to enable it to care for the people of regional and remote Queensland.

Construction of the new Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base will support an estimated 200 jobs. Tenders for the project will be called by Brisbane Airport Corporation in the coming fortnight. 

The Royal Flying Doctor Service employs more than 400 people in Queensland and operates 20 aircraft, with its Brisbane base a pivotal link to eight operational bases across the state. 

Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) Chief Executive Officer, Meredith Staib said the new aeromedical facility will be unlike anything seen in the state before.  

“The new Base will include a state-of-the-art short stay bay including 12 patient beds allowing for overnight stays prior to transfer, if necessary, as well as a dedicated patient transfer facility where patients can be moved onto, or off aeromedical aircraft out of the elements, in comfort and in a world-class clinical environment.”   

“This new base will act as a gateway for more than 5,000 Queenslanders who are aeromedically transferred to Brisbane’s tertiary hospitals from right across the state each year,” Ms Staib said. 

“For 95 years, the Flying Doctor has been looking at innovative ways to deliver even greater levels of patient care and increase efficiency of healthcare delivery, and with this new, state-of-the-art patient transfer facility and short stay bay, will be able to do just that.” 

The LifeFlight facility will accommodate the unique combination of two medically configured Challenger 604 fixed wing aircraft and two highly advanced AW139 helicopters in a purpose-built hangar.

"This joint hub will be transformational for the aeromedical network in Queensland, housing our world-class service alongside our colleagues at RFDS and QGAir. To also have the strong and effective co-ordination of Retrieval Services Queensland based at the same facility, will be integral to continuing smooth operation, as the demand for aeromedical services grows," said LifeFlight Australia Deputy Chair Hon. Jim Elder. 

"This is a fantastic outcome for the future and those who will benefit most, are the people of Queensland; especially those in remote and regional areas who rely on services such as ours to ensure they have access to the same levels of medical care, as those who live in our urban centres."

10 staff with a disability have found employment at Boronia Brew, a new Brisbane Airport café which officially opened today. 

Operated by HELP Enterprises, the social enterprise is providing training for supported workers, with hopes some will go on to find employment at businesses across the rapidly expanding Brisbane Airport precinct. 

The coffee shop is one of Brisbane Airport’s largest, located in the Da Vinci aviation training precinct filled with people upgrading their skills at Aviation Australia, Qantas, Virgin Australia, LifeFlight Training Academy, QUT and Cabin Services Australia. 

“This social enterprise partnership is one of many ways that Brisbane Airport Corporation gives back to the Brisbane community, and we’re excited to see where this new venture takes us all,” according to Denver Fresser, CEO of HELP.  

“HELP Enterprises is on a mission to make the world a more inclusive place and thanks to Brisbane Airport Corporation, we’re getting one big step closer to doing just that.”

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is set to welcome national electrical and furniture retailer, BSR Group, announcing the development of a new headquarters and warehouse at the Da Vinci educational and industrial precinct. 

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has commenced construction of an office and warehouse space totalling 5,600sqm for the BSR Group, an Australian franchisor overseeing more than 220 retailers including the Betta Home Living, Furniture Zone, and Designer Appliances chains.

Friday July 22, 2022: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is investing in future jobs by kicking off stage two of its Airport Industrial Park. The construction phase will generate 440+ positions.  Once completed, the Stage 2 precinct will be home to 1400+ direct jobs and thousands more indirect positions.

BAC will start civil works for a 26.5-hectare industrial land site this month, to meet the growing demand for industrial operations at Brisbane Airport.

With demand for courier services skyrocketing during the COVID-19 pandemic, BAC will build a new premises at Export Park, allowing Direct Couriers to expand their warehouse facilities for the second time in a decade.

The purpose-built 5,798sqm office and warehouse facility will be located on a 10,667sqm site in the Export Park precinct, which has become a hub for transport, logistics and manufacturing operations.

Friday, 3 June 2021: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is set to deliver a Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base that will connect more Queenslanders to major hospitals and life-saving medical care.

The 14,470m² multi-tenanted facility will be located between Brisbane Airport’s two runways at the Airport North Precinct and will accommodate the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS), LifeFlight, and Queensland Health facilities.

It will feature new patient transfer facilities, state-of-the-art hangars for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, administration areas, and a medical base for regional patient and donor transfers.

Today Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick MP and Health Minister Yvette D’Ath MP announced funding to make this new base a reality.

Regional Queenslanders will have the certainty of better access to medical treatment for the next decade as a result of a new ten-year deal between the Queensland Government and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment Cameron Dick announced the additional $334 million in funding for the deal ahead of this month’s State Budget.

“The Royal Flying Doctor Service is officially recognised as a Queensland Great, and rightly so,” the Treasurer said.

“In a state the size of Queensland, the RFDS plays a vital role in ensuring that no matter where Queenslanders live, they can get access to the medical services they need.

“The logistics and planning needed to operate the RFDS are considerable, so today’s announcement provides the certainty the organisation requires to meet the future needs of Queenslanders.

“This future-proofing infrastructure is about us continuing to ensure Queenslanders have access to the care they need, no matter where they live.

Thursday 9 December 2021: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has officially commenced construction of a new warehouse and distribution facility at Brisbane Airport, marked by an official sod turning event this morning.

Representatives from BAC and Tomkins visited the site for the sod turning event including Tomkins General Manager Julian French, who said the relationship between Tomkins and BAC has flourished over the years, with the construction company heading up 12 projects to date on airport.

The industrial facility will be located on Litsea Street in Export Park and will offer approximately 10,000m2 of nett lettable area, including 550m2 of offices and 104 graded on-site car parks. 

The flexible space will also feature eight on-grade roller shutters, 10 metre springing height, an ESFR sprinkler system, dual street frontage, and drive-through access within the gated facility. 

BAC Executive General Manager Commercial, Martin Ryan said that as the development is speculative no tenant had been secured for the facility yet, but the team had already received great interest before construction even commenced.

“Demand for industrial property across South East Queensland is increasing and we have seen first-hand the growth within commercial property over the last two years.

Despite the setbacks and challenges of COVID-19, GE Aviation is committed to building for the future and will call a new 3,312sqm warehouse, located within the Da Vinci precinct, home in mid-2022.

More than 20 GE Aviation and Tomkins delegates visited the site for the sod turning event on Thursday including Mark Gavioli, CFO of GE Aviation, who said the team is thrilled at the prospect of settling in to a custom and state-of-the-art facility.

Wednesday 27 March 2019: BNE Property Executive General Manager, John Tormey, will retire from full-time work at the end of the current financial year.

With more than 40 years’ experience in the commercial property industry, John is one of Queensland’s most respected property industry leaders. He has headed up Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) Property Division since 2014.

During his time at BAC John has led the Property team to deliver on dozens of major property projects including BNE Auto Mall - an international scale innovation.

This project, together with an expansion to the DFO Centre and Skygate Corso precinct, BNE Service Centre and Skygate Home and Life, among others, as well as BNE’s property vacancy rate of less than 1 per cent, is the envy of the property investment industry.

John has also provided strong support and guidance to the Parking and Transport Services division and has achieved corporate success with a can-do, collaborative approach.

Thursday 24 January 2019: Miele Australia officially opened its newest facility at Brisbane Airport this week.

The 7,065m² tailored warehouse, office and showroom facility, within the highly desirable Australia TradeCoast region, has seen Miele Australia amalgamate a number of satellite locations in neighbouring Pinkenba and Eagle Farm under one roof.

Miele Australia Managing Director ANZ, Sjaak Brouwer, and Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) CEO, Gert-Jan De Graaff, officially opened the facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday 22 January.

Friday 3 August 2018: Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC’s) newest industrial tenant, Quality Foods and Beverages (QFB), has moved into its new purpose-built premises within Airport Industrial Park.

QFB Director Frank De Pasquale said the relocation effort from the company’s expended Stafford complex took approximately 72 hours and the food and beverage supplier is relishing the growth opportunities their new 11,260m² facility will support.

“We’ve come from humble beginnings — just myself with one truck servicing a few schools in Brisbane with single-serve lasagne,” Mr De Pasquale said.

“Now, the 800+ schools we supply make up approximately 20 per cent of our business with the remainder of our revenue coming from cafes, bars, clubs and pubs.

“Our new facility at Brisbane Airport is triple the size of our previous warehouse which affords a number of opportunities that weren’t available at our previous location, these include introducing a protein line of meat, fish and poultry, expanding through further acquisition of local small business, and moving to a more efficient automated collection and loading system.”

BAC’s General Manager of Commercial Businesses John Tormey said a good portion of tenants moving to Brisbane Airport were doing so because of the ongoing option for onsite expansion.

Friday 16 February 2018: Brisbane Airport continues to be the logical choice for aviation related businesses with Emerge Engineering and Maintenance (TCR) committing to a five year lease of 1165sqm at Airport Freight Centre 4 (AFC4), Export Park.

The company has expanded from their previous airport warehouse to AFC4, a modern industrial estate with direct airside access.

Brisbane Airport Corporation’s General Manager of Commercial Businesses John Tormey said the new lease was a reflection of Emerge’s confidence in the business precinct.

Friday 27 May 2016: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) will deliver a new 2,280m² warehouse and office facility at Export Park for leading courier company, Direct Couriers.

BAC’s property division BNE Property will develop the new purpose-built facility to accommodate the growing business already based in the precinct.

BAC General Manager Commercial Businesses John Tormey said the new lease is a strong sign of Direct Couriers’ confidence in Brisbane Airport.

“We are very pleased to see that Direct Couriers’ business has grown substantially since first moving to the airport in 2011, and that we are again able to accommodate their new requirement for an even bigger premises at Export Park,” Mr Tormey said.

“This agreement is not only a reflection of the site’s ideal location and connectivity, but also of our ability to deliver flexible solutions to meet our client’s needs.

“The airport’s size, accessibility and amenity are continuing to attract great non-aviation commercial and industrial businesses. The demand for premises is strong and our total vacancy across all property precincts is less than 1 per cent.”

The 26 Qantas Drive warehouse and office facility at Export Park will provide Direct Couriers with approximately 60 per cent more space than its current premises at 37-39 Qantas Drive.

Direct Couriers Director David Preston said as well as the larger space, Direct Couriers wanted to remain at the Brisbane Airport precinct due to its transport infrastructure and amenity.

“We are confident that this new facility meets Direct Couriers’ needs in terms of the warehouse size, layout and location,” Mr Preston said.

“We will have 21 staff located at the new facility when we move in January 2017, and the premises allows for our planned business growth.”

The airport is already home to more than 420 businesses and 21,000 workers, with this figure expected to grow to around 50,000 by 2029.

Monday 1 February 2016: Brisbane is undergoing a warehouse refurbishment boom, as larger and older logistics centres struggle for relevance in a market that is driven by new construction in emerging precincts offered at competitive rentals.

According to Anthony White, Director of Industrial at Colliers International, institutional owners are investing heavily in their existing portfolios. “These owners are looking to attract new tenants to their buildings following existing tenants vacating, sometimes after leases which are on a term of 20 years or more.

“Brisbane Airport Corporation is in the final stages of completing a substantial refurbishment of a 26,912sqm distribution centre at 51 – 57 Qantas Drive, which has yielded immediate results.

“Following a 21,912sqm commitment by GPC Australia, Brisbane Airport Corporation undertook a substantial refurbishment which included a full fire sprinkling upgrade, an office extension and refurbishment and an external cosmetic refurbishment.”

This strategy yielded immediate results, with national fit out company Mills Displays agreeing to lease the balance 5,000sqm tenancy just prior to Christmas.

“We believe this is only the beginning of a refurbishment cycle and that many owners will need to consider how their buildings function to suit modern tenants’ requirements,” said Mr White. “Efficient truck access, undercover loading areas and quality fire and building management systems will be demanded by tenants as the design and construct market offers brand new buildings at competitive rentals.”

John Tormey, General Manager Commercial Businesses at Brisbane Airport Corporation acknowledged the need to tailor the airport’s property portfolio to meet the specific needs of customers.

“We have a terrific $1billion portfolio of assets and extensive development opportunities for both our existing and new tenants,” Mr Tormey said. “While we have the lowest office vacancy in Australia – virtually no vacancy in industrial buildings – and many brand new developments, we are long term owners and see the benefits of making sure our offering suits our customer base in the future.”

Brisbane based De Luca Construction & Development worked with Brisbane Airport Corporation in delivering the project and commented that they are seeing increasing demand for this type of construction job. “Taking an existing building that could be 20 or 30 years old and installing modern systems and features is not without its own challenges,” said De Luca MD Nic De Luca. “This project required a substantial attention to make sure the new fire system and office refurbishment was suitable for the needs of the main tenant GPC,” he said.

Brisbane Airport Corporation is not the only company investing in its portfolio with Charter Hall recently completing a substantial refurbishment on its 18,000sqm distribution centre at Pinkenba which was previously occupied by NQX. Goodman has also invested heavily in its existing assets at Hendra and Acacia Ridge and Stockland has completed a substantial refurbishment of its highly exposed distribution centre on the corner of Nudgee Road and the East-West Arterial.

Anthony White is forecasting this trend to continue. “We have seen repositioning strategies rewarded with some exceptional leasing outcomes over the past 18 months,” he said. “As tenants demand more efficient buildings we will see increased activity in distribution centre refurbishments”.

Thursday 10 September 2015: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) will deliver a new office facility at Skygate for leading construction products supplier Hanson Construction Materials Pty Ltd.

BAC’s property division BNE Property will develop the new purpose-built facility, scheduled for completion in August 2016.

BAC General Manager Commercial Businesses John Tormey said the deal is a great win for the growing Skygate precinct.

“Our office vacancy has remained the lowest in Australia at just 2.9 per cent,” Mr Tormey said, “For Skygate to attract a new commercial office tenant, particularly an international company of this magnitude, in a competitive market demonstrates its strength as an office location.”

Monday 31 August 2015: Federal Minister for Justice The Hon Michael Keenan MP officially opened the Australian Federal Police (AFP) canine facility at Brisbane Airport today.

The centre is used to train police dogs on the detection of firearms, explosives, drugs and currency.

BNE Property developed the purpose-built facility for the AFP which includes kennels, day runs, a vet treatment room and an obstacle course.

It is part of the AFP's National Canine Program which provides screening across terminals, baggage, aircraft, vehicles and freight.

Friday 21 August 2015: Brisbane Airport’s EOI campaign for its new Auto Mall concept is generating a positive response from the automotive industry.

BAC General Manager Commercial Businesses John Tormey said more than half of the car manufacturers in Australia have expressed interest in the concept so far with discussions continuing.

“We are having ongoing discussions with the various manufacturers and car dealerships,” he said. “So far we have interest from more than 50 per cent of car manufacturers and we hope to take this to 70 or 80 per cent.”

Mr Tormey said the response from the industry has been very positive.

“The overall feedback is that it ‘just makes sense’,” Mr Tormey said.

“With the urban regeneration of traditional inner city motor vehicle precincts, as well as the global trend towards experience-based car marketing, the timing is right.”

The Auto Mall concept proposes a ‘shopping mall for cars’ including a range of dealers located around a Mark Skaife designed test track.

The airport is already home to more than 420 businesses and 21,000 workers, with this figure expected to grow to around 50,000 by 2029.

Monday 29 June 2015: Brisbane Airport’s Five Lobelia Circle has been named a finalist in the 2015 Property Council of Australia Innovation and Excellence Awards.

The building is one of only seven national finalists in the category for ‘Best Office Development’.

Brisbane Airport Corporation General Manager Commercial Businesses John Tormey said the building is testament to what is possible at the airport precinct.

“Five Lobelia Circle is the first commercial office building at the International Terminal precinct, making it a unique project in a highly connected, high profile location,” he said.

The concept for Five Lobelia Circle was developed for an Australian Federal Police (AFP) requirement under Project Jupiter - a national initiative to locate AFP offices at 10 Australian airports.

As the major tenant occupying three of five floors, the AFP worked closely with BNE Property to ensure the building met specific security and technology needs.

AFP Aviation Commander Queensland Grant Edwards said the end result has been a huge success.

“The purpose built, secure facility is state of the art and stands out as a contemporarily designed and unique building within the immediate aviation precinct,” Mr Edwards said.

“It provides us the space to undertake our core activity and affords us excellent proximity which has significantly shortened our response times,” he said.

“The building is the envy of all our Commonwealth and State stakeholders who consistently comment that they wished they had a similar type facility.”

The five-level A Grade building was architecturally designed by Cottee Parker to embrace the unique airport location with views to the CBD and Port.

The open plan 1,325m2 floor plates allow for efficient tenancy layouts and operations.

Designed to achieve a 4.5 Star NABERS rating, Five Lobelia Circle delivers sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives including an adaptable façade, zoned air-conditioning and lighting, attractive user-friendly fire stairs and extensive end-of-trip facilities.

Mr Tormey said the building is an example of Brisbane Airport’s commitment to long-term sustainable development practices.

“Five Lobelia Circle is future-proofed for sustainability and technology upgrades,” he said.

“Smart thinking in the building design has resulted in a sustainable, yet cost effective building that achieves a high level of energy efficiency without comprising user aesthetics.”

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on 1 May.
