BNE Service Centre now open at Brisbane Airport
Brisbane Airport’s new $12million BNE Service Centre is now open off Moreton Drive at the busy Brisbane Airport precinct. The highly anticipated development will be a welcome addition to the airport’s growing amenity, with a 24-hr Shell Coles Express, 24-hr McDonald’s restaurant and a dine-in food court.Brisbane Airport General Manager Commercial Businesses John Tormey said the airport was ripe for a new retail development.“With more than 20,000 workers at the precinct and 21.8 million passengers passing through each year there is an appetite for additional convenient, quality food offerings and services,” he said.“The centre creates more than 200 additional jobs for local residents, which is great for the precinct.”
The new dine-in food court with seating for 200 will offer a range of fast food and café options, with The Coffee Club, Subway, Hungry Jack’s, KFC, Sushi Mi and Airport Kebabs all on the menu.Mr Tormey said the centre is ideally located for easy access from the airport terminals and surrounding suburbs.“The food court is sure to be a hit for morning coffees, lunches and an easy after-work dinner pick-up,” he said.“Located on the corner of Moreton Drive and Nancy Bird Way, it’s also ideally placed for passengers travelling to and from the terminals looking to refuel and grab a bite to eat.”
Mr Tormey said the McDonald’s restaurant, which opened in May, has already seen a strong response from the airport community.“McDonald’s opened early in May, and has been trading very well,” he said.“There has been a continuous stream of customers – it’s been particularly popular with taxi drivers, local office workers, airport passengers and construction workers.”Mr Tormey said the interest from national and global retailers is a strong sign of confidence in the precinct’s potential.“The centre was fully leased pre-construction with huge interest from national fuel and food retailers,” Mr Tormey said.“For some retailers, including Subway and The Coffee Club, this will be their third store on airport and a continuation of a long-term relationship with BAC,” he said.“This is an exciting and busy time for Brisbane Airport and businesses continue to be attracted to our growing community.“The new 24-hr Shell Coles Express and McDonald’s add to the precinct’s convenience with Queensland’s first 24-hr Woolworths and a 24-hr Jetts Fitness already drawing customers around the clock.”Designed by international architecture firm Thomson Adsett; the BNE Service Centre is a prime example of the quality building design being delivered at the airport precinct.
Mr Tormey said customers will be pleasantly surprised at the luxury finishes of the Centre.“It’s not your average Service Centre that you see along the highways,” Mr Tormey said. “The geometric roof over the dine-in food court is truly a piece of art, inspired by the shape of Fraser Island, and the largest of its kind in the country.“The design is a celebration of our great State and will create a wonderful first impression for new visitors.”
