Monday 28 June 2021: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has distributed more than $18,000 in grants to 19 charitable organisations and community groups as part of its philanthropic Community Giving Fund.

BAC acknowledges in the current environment, it is now more important than ever to support organisations doing exceptional work in our community.

Twice a year BAC calls for applications for grants for projects that provide health and wellbeing, safety, sport, education and environment programs, or other community benefits and initiatives.

Since the launch of its Community Giving Fund in 2015, BAC has donated nearly $300,000 to help smaller charities continue the fantastic work they do within the community.

In addition to philanthropic donations, BAC distributes more than $1 million in sponsorship support to a wide range of community-focused corporations each year.

BAC’s major charitable partnerships include The Royal Flying Doctor Service, RACQ Life Flight and Surf Life Saving Queensland.

Recipients of donations from BAC’s latest round of Community Giving include:

The Gap State School P&C: The Gap State School was established in 1912 and offers educational programs from Prep to Year 6. This grant will be used to design an indigenous mural for a large brick wall, creating a yarning circle using sandstone blocks, and planting additional plants that are native to the area to improve the green spaces of the school yard.

Pullenvale State School: The Pullenvale State School teaches its students to respect and accommodate the rights of others, and actively encourages imagination and creativity. This grant will be used to purchase approximately 50 titles graphic novels. Graphic novels provide an essential visual cue for children with dyslexia, ADS, and those who struggle with their reading for other reasons.

Reef Check Australia: Reef Check Australia is an innovative, environmental charity dedicated to providing ways for the community to better understand, appreciate and protect oceans and marine environments. This grant will be used to update their first aid kit, and to purchase a suitable emergency oxygen kit, along with 12 months rental on the oxygen cylinder.
