BAC backs Queensland tourism with major event sponsorship

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has stepped up to help secure a visit to Queensland by the legendary Liverpool FC, BAC CEO and Managing Director Julieanne Alroe announced today.

“We love our football at BAC but that’s not the only reason we’re backing this visit,” she said. “As the primary gateway for international visitors to Queensland we believe it’s appropriate that we play our part in building Queensland’s profile as one of the best places on earth for major events and holiday travel.

"We’re the front door to Queensland we’ll be making sure that the team and the thousands of Liverpool fans from around the world who come to Brisbane for this match will get the very best Queensland welcome.

“That said, as partners of the Brisbane Roar since the club was born we’ll also be keen to see our local lads show why they’re the most successful team in A-League history!”

Ms Alroe said BAC was investing significantly in increasing tourism to Queensland.

“We sponsor major festivals, sport and the arts to help build the appeal of Brisbane and Queensland to international and interstate travellers.

“We’re investing billions of dollars in new facilities and infrastructure to service the growth in air travel. And, with major refurbishments of both the domestic and international terminals at a cost of many tens of millions of dollars, we’re making sure that Queensland’s front door reflects the growing maturity, sophistication and sense of fun that visitors expect from major airports around the world.

“Importantly too, we are leading the charge to bring more international air services to Queensland, putting the case for new routes and services to key airlines, investing to promote new routes and services, arguing Brisbane’s case as the main gateway to Queensland in bilateral negotiations and working closely with government agencies and the private sector to build a more strategic approach to aviation growth in Queensland,” Ms Alroe said.

More than 22 million passengers travelled through Brisbane Airport in 2014 on services provided by 26 airlines offering more than 700 flights a day between Brisbane and 67 national and international destinations.
